Gas & Katrina

So this morning I've turned on my computer and headed to the kitchen to refill my coffee cup, when the phone rings.
"Hello?"
"Hey hun, Pam just told me that gas in Allen is already $2.99 a gallon."
"Oh my god. What is it here right now?" (I haven't bought gas in about a week)
"$2.60." (Actually $2.59)
"Shit. Guess I need to load the kiddo in the van and go get some before it starts rising up here."
Hangs up phone, snags kid, and is at Albertson's Express in less than 6 mins getting a whopping 8 gals of gas for just under $21. So I saved $3.20 if the price goes all the way up to $2.99. Terry will also be gettting some, hopefully making it to the station before the price change. He has a dental appointment at 10 am. *crosses fingers*

This is absolutely nuts. Man. I know Katrina has thrown a monkey wrench into the whole oil price thing, but damn.. it was out of control BEFORE she came along. Sheesh.

Speaking of Katrina.. My heart just sinks watching and reading the news coverage of the damage. Gilven continually comes to mind. Especially his statement that he, his wife, and child were the only ones of his family that left the MS Gulf Coast region. My contiued thoughts go out to him and his family, hoping that everyone is alive and well. Complaining about gas prices seems petty in light of the devestation the people of the coast have experienced.

Having heard so much on the web about how insanely highly priced gas is these days, I went ahead and compared your price to ours. Turns out that our gas is even more than yours. I used a currency converter and google to transit our 1.03/L to USD and gallons. Our gas is about 1.30 USD per gallon. Sucks.

I filled up for $2.67 on Monday.

Today the same station was $3.39.

I'm buying a honda.

How much does a Toyota Prius go for these days?... It's looking more attractive with each passing day.

I've wanted a Hybrid since the minute I heard about 'em. Once I'm not toting 3 kids around, you can bet your ass I'll be driving a Honda or Toyota Hybrid if I can afford one!!

And Number One, your gas is only $1.30 American a gallon? That's a typo, right? If not, anyone want to move to Canada with me?

ooooOOOOOoo000ooooops. I meant $3.30. I wish I had a time machine so I could go back and unmake that mistake. But then I bet it would cost a bit to run the machine, what with the high gas prices and all. It's a vicious cycle!!#@ :|

I remember the days when gas was $.99 per gallon. Ah...the good old days...never to be seen again...ever...

When I was about 19, it was $.49 once. I was able to fill my little Dodge D50 ALL the way up. :D And that baby sipped gas like it was fine wine, so the tank-full lasted FOREVER.

I live in DC. Our gas is 3.59. I have a Durango. I'm driving my Escort and will until this craziness ends. Then I'm selling the Durango aka the Black Stallion and getting a Prius! My two kids can squeeze in the back right? Oh and I remember when gas was .99...and I'm not that old..under 30.

WOW, it shot up where i lived to like $3.39 which was insane. I'm so used to filling up and rolling out. We didnt pay at the pump or for fuel in Iraq. Thats about the only thing i miss about Iraq, not paying for fuel! GOOD TIMES!
